about.

Art director and graphic designer Alexis Godefroy builds images and systems.
He takes simple and direct ideas and gives them a specific graphic vocabulary.
His aim is to create unique graphic solutions by using the context and constraints
of each project as a creative motor. He regularly works on cultural projects,
while remaining open to all areas of graphic design. He also regularly collaborates
with different visual-communication studios and creates work for a diverse clientele,
including publishers, architects, companies and cultural institutions. While remaining
curious about graphic design in all its forms, Alexis Godefroy’s work concentrates
on visual identity, publishing, printed media and signage. This site presents
a selection of his completed work; for more information, don’t hesitate get in touch.

Alexis Godefroy was born in Cherbourg, France, in 1976. During his visual-
communications studies with Philippe Millot, he developed an interest in typography
that continues to this day. After graduating in 2001, he began working as a freelance
designer and collaborated with different design studios such as Integral Concept,
while experimenting with font sets for Parisian club Batofar. He also began working
with design magazine Étapes for which he created a specific layout for each
article, as well as taking part in the magazine’s overall redesign. He then worked
on the design of cultural (interior, graphic and typographic design) books and other
publications for publishers Pyramyd, as well as other publishers and cultural
institutions such as the Arsenal in Paris. At the same time, he also began working
regularly with Pippo Lionni on signage projects. Together they developed
functional spatial information systems for cultural institutions, hospitals and other
public buildings, in collaboration with architects and scenographers.
